"I strive to bring God's beauty to the surface." Paul Jensen had been a professional designer, carpenter, furniture builder, and cabinet maker for over 30 years until he turned all his time, energy, and creativity into developing culinary wood pieces. Paul feels very blessed to have combined his passions for cooking and woodworking into functional and decorative culinary accessories. Receiving professional awards for excellence has simply been 'icing on the cake'. Paul states, "My excitement begins at first glance of nature's details in a piece of wood and I 'vision' the ideal culinary tool that will highlight these grain features. I then use hand and power tools to release the natural beauty hidden inside. Each item is a one of a kind creation designed to unleash this natural beauty gifted to us by God." Paul's culinary wood art is most often made from Wisconsin woods of cherry, walnut, black walnut, oak, hard maple, figured and quilted maple, locust, and wild apple. He also enjoys the use of some exotic woods like zebra wood, cocobolo, red river gum. Soft stone inlay is occasionally used to add additional color and design. PJ's Woods is based out of Paul's home in Neillsville, Wisconsin. He entered his first juried art show in September 2001 and has since continued to exhibit in top quality art shows as well as exhibit and retail pieces in shops and art galleries in the Midwest.
